MAME Cabinet E-mail Print
Wednesday, 03 March 2010

I've Finally gotten a chance to make a MAME cabinet, so I'm going to take it! For thoughs that dont know, MAME stands for Multi Arcade Machine Emulator. So to paint a picture for you, it's an arcade machine, that is driven by a PC.

This is not a new idea, as the idea has been around since (I'm guessing) the late 90's - early 2000's. They mainly appeal to people who grow up with them, instead of gaming consoles (Megadrive, SNES, etc..).

You can buy pre-cut kits in my area but I wanted to make it from scratch, my own way. Of course if you Google MAME cabinets, you'll see some with added extra's, and a few different standards: upright, cocktail, thin (suitable for LCD's), etc.

The N95 has a huge application development community, and thanks to the open source platform of Symbian, it's relativly easy to get the documents or white papers you need to write your programs.

In this article I'll discuss applications that have either been ported from other platforms, or have been written for the phone that you'd not usually require or think of having installed on a phone.

New Phone - Nokia N95 E-mail Print
Monday, 11 August 2008

I've been very lucky to have purchased an Nokia N95 (after much research), and would recommend it to anyone wishing to improve their 'Nerd' status.

After taking it home and fiddling with it, I realised 2 additional features that dont get mentioned on any of the brochures; It has accelerometers, and a built in VOIP (SIP) client.

With all the plus's there is a very big down fall... Battery life is very short when used for anything other than making simple phone calls or txt messaging.
